i-Open Technologies is looking for an experienced and motivated developer with good interpersonal skills and an aptitude towards a more client-facing role.  Initially we need a developer that can help with product and demonstration development but that can grow into a position that will support the sales and solution implementation process. The successful candidate will eventually serve as a technology adviser with support for the business analysis process to both prospective customers as well as existing and new client accounts. The initial position will have you deeply involved in development of our solutions and creation of demonstrations that will catch the imagination of our customers.  You will also participate in the needs analysis process with senior PM’s and BA’s which ideally will lead to you taking a leadership role in this area. You need to be a self-starter so you can hit the ground running.  You are a “people person” and are comfortable working closely with clients and customers to help design and develop solutions that meet their final needs. The position would require someone with a passion for learning new technologies and an eye for applying those technologies in real world solutions.

Responsibilities will include:

• Development of custom applications based on functional and technical designs

Using technical documents deliver required solutions for client requirements; fully document code; utilize version management; provide Unit testing; work to develop required help documentation

• Strategizing web & client/server tool use and function

Work with team to come up with creative ways to display and interact with complex data sets.  This will require collection and analysis of client requirements; provision of technical prototyping/walk-throughs to ensure software meets business requirements; evaluate new software and technology and make recommendations regarding its use

• IT Support

Provide routine PC Support such as configuring email, system and application updates and account administration.

• Integration and Migration of data

Understand and develop migration and transformation methodologies

• Design of Web user interfaces for new and existing web based projects

Create innovative and appealing web sites using industry standard methods; graphic design capabilities would be an asset

• Documentation

Document all methods used to create geo-web visualization tools for future maintenance and updates; document roll out procedures and strategies for software; creation and maintenance of functional and technical design documents, as well as some general business analysis

• Testing, Supporting and Troubleshooting Applications

Provide technical support; investigate and resolve production problems; optimizing web systems

• Coordinating and Communicating with project manager and other IT and non-IT department resources.

Excellent verbal and written skills and a strong, problem-solving orientation.

Technical Qualifications:

1. Excellent knowledge and experience using related programming languages (JavaScript, .NET, AJAX, Python, PHP, HTML, DHTML, XML) to develop web based tools
2. Solid understanding of IT infrastructure and web based applications (fluency with MS Server OS and Web Platforms - other OS/Web Platforms beneficial)
3. Business analysis and project management experience would be an asset
4. Database management and programming skills (SQL Server, Oracle)
5. Proven experience developing in geospatial web based platforms (Google Earth API, Google Maps API)

Most of our projects are geospatial related, which means that knowledge of the Google Maps API, Google Earth API and/or CesiumJS libraries, ESRI’s ArcGIS for Server JavaScript and REST API’s and similar is also a bonus. Experience in writing apps in HTML5 for use on tablets, or developing smartphone apps with Xamarin as well as knowledge of and experience with Java are very welcome.
