GIS Manager/Business Analyst
Job Details
This position requires a GIS Manager/Business Analyst to manage web-based GIS projects, interface and manage clients and manage the GIS Services team. The successful candidate has an excellent understanding of ESRI ArcGIS Server, including installation, configuration, maintenance, geoprocessing, map authoring, web-services and more. Furthermore, this person will grow to understand our software solutions and will support our marketing teams’ sales efforts through performing GIS applications demonstrations and support, as needed.
The role is to design, implement, and maintain the enterprise GIS database and software used to drive our software solutions and products as well as work directly with clients to understand and communicate their needs to the development team and finally, to ensure that GIS service work is delivered on time and on budget.
Responsibilities
Will include but not limited to:
- Oversee the GIS software, GIS environment, databases, including ArcGIS Server installation, configuration, maintenance, map authoring, data processing, geodatabases, editing, geoprocessing, analysis, report making
- Use a wide range of software tools including ESRI ArcGIS, SQL Server, Safe FME, along with open source tools such as GeoServer and PostGIS
- Complete geospatial projects using analytical skills, creating value-added data, perform geoprocessing, and publishing reports and statistics
- Learn our software and fully understand the capabilities of our solution and to be able to perform software demonstrations engaging clients in a professional and effective manner
- Work with clients to document and scope requirements for a solution and then manage the implementation and delivery of the work in coordination with the development team
- Estimate projects and work with the services team to deliver them
Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following:
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science with GIS focus, additional education in GIS is an asset
- 5-7 years of related experience in complex GIS projects and/or tasks
- Strong focus on client interaction and development of Business Requirements and Functional Specifications
- Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Server, ArcMap, Geodatabases, and other ESRI products.
- Extensive geodatabase experience, analytical experience and working with geospatial data in various capacities.
- Experience in developing and maintaining quality assurance and quality control procedures for geospatial data and business processes – includes developing appropriate documentation
- Experience with Safe FME or similar ETL
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server database, Postgres/PostGIS
- Experience in web-based client/server applications including open source solutions such as GeoServer
- Experience in training and educating customers using customized applications
- Ability to develop proficiency with a wide range of sophisticated software tools
- Ability to work within a team, often under tight deadlines
- Strong organization skills
